Analog Forever Magazine Edition 1 | Winter 2019

$35.00
Sold Out

Analog Forever Magazine is proud to announce our debut print publication will be published and released on November 9th, 2019! We are excited to present to you a 125+ page journal featuring 10 analog and experimental photographers from around the globe - from Europe and Great Britain to the USA and Germany- each exploring various methods for using the medium we love in individual, creative ways.

Featured are four in-depth interviews: For over seven decades, with a ravenous eye and boundless energy, Fred Lyon has been firmly anchored behind a camera. From the streets of his native San Francisco, to the offices of Life and Vogue, Fred takes us on a nostalgic tour of old San Francisco and the world from the 1940s and 1950s as we examine his 75+ year career as a professional photographer and photojournalist. Yelena Zhavoronkova discusses her still life Platinum/Palladium prints and techniques, and as a result, shows us how even the simplest objects come alive with proper lighting and printing techniques. Photographer and director Estevan Oriol converses with us about his 20+ career as an urban lifestyle and documentary photographer that has allowed him to create a portfolio that juxtaposes the glamorous and gritty streets of Los Angeles culture, including portraits of famous artists and celebrities, as well as Latino, urban, gang, and tattoo culture lifestyles. Lynn Bierbaum’s work explores her search for belonging, and for a place, she can call home, by creating three-dimensional photography sculptures from a hybrid process of wet plate collodion and blown glass.

In addition to our in-depth interviews, we are also highlighting six other artists that deserve praise for their unique and ambitious work! Featured artists include: Nils Karlson, Blue Mitchell, John F. Cooper, K.K. DePaul, Mads Madison, and Anna Foersterling!

In sum, Analog Forever Magazine, Edition 1 will embark readers on a photographic journey around the world through ten different artists’ eyes. Through this publication you will be transported from the artists’ private and commercial studios to the streets of 1940s San Francisco, and the urban jungle of modern Los Angeles, see the timeless nature of the vast landscapes of Iceland via a pinhole lens, and explore the minds and collections of abstract and experimental photographers that are as unique as they are brilliant.

With over 125+ pages of analog photography greatness coming November 1st, we are thrilled to present to you a preview of the artists selected for Analog Forever Magazine’s first issue, to satisfy your senses until you can hold our first publication in your hands. Please enjoy the artists work, explore their websites, follow them on social media, and get ready for a revolution in analog photography journalism.

Lastly, we couldn’t make our publication possible without the support from our sponsors and future stockists. We want to thank the following companies for their support and generosity as we get ready to launch! We are thrilled to be printing our publication with Edition One Books in Berkeley, California! We are also thankful to Blue Moon Camera, Photoworks SF and CatLabs, for being amazing supporters of Analog Forever Magazine, thank you!

Photography has long served as a critical medium through which LGBTQ+ artists have explored concepts of identity, interrogated social norms, and constructed alternative modes of visibility. Today, a new generation of queer photographers is reshaping the medium—blurring the lines between intimacy and politics, personal history and public gaze, vulnerability and strength. Within this context, the photographic image becomes not only a means of self-expression but also a powerful site of resistance and reclamation.
