CLOSED | Call for Entry: Online Group Exhibition - "Reflections” January 2022

“Portal” by Lisa Toboz

We are excited to announce that our January 2022 online group exhibition, Reflections is being curated by fine art photographer and copy editor and contributor for Analog Forever Magazine, Lisa Toboz! To enter, all you need to do is read and respond to the following prompt with your analog photography. The best of these images will be showcased in an online show, beginning January 17th, 2022. Good luck!

"The world is a looking glass and gives back to every [person] the reflection of [their] own face."

- William Makepeace Thackeray

Lisa Toboz writes: The month of January gives us the gift of renewal. It’s a time for looking back at what we’ve experienced over the past year, and looking forward to improvement, new plans, excitement. For some parts of the world, the beginning of a new year is blanketed in snow and early darkness, and we are forced to turn inward, reflecting on what is important as winter crawls towards spring: rebirth.

In Reflections, I’m looking for photographs that capture all the mirrors that we find in everyday life: from snow melting into a puddle on a brick street or traffic- light reflections in a shop window, to the bedroom mirror where we catch glimpses of ourselves each morning, reflections force us to see what is around us and ourselves for what we are - and at times, for what we are not. Our cameras are also mirrors that we use to capture these images that can be found in the most unlikely places if we keep our hearts - and eyes - open.

Deadline for Submissions is December 31st, 2021

Michael Behlen
Michael Behlen is a photography enthusiast from Fresno, CA. He works in finance and spends his free time shooting instant film and seeing live music, usually a combination of the two. He has self- published two Polaroid photobooks--“Searching for Stillness, Vol. 1” and “I Was a Pioneer,” literally a boxed set of his instant film work. He exhibited a variety of his photos at Raizana Teas, a Fresno tea room and health food store; his work there, “Polaroid Prints of Landscapes and Strangers,” was up for viewing during the months of June and July, 2014. He has been published, been interviewed, and been reviewed in a quantity of magazines, from” F-Stop” and “ToneLit” to “The Film Shooter’s Collective.” He loves the magic sensuality of instant film: its saturated, surreal colors; the unpredictability of the medium; it’s addictive qualities as you watch it develop.
