Elizabeth Flinsch writes:
Whether in mind or body, we humans are drawn to movement. Even in stillness, our hearts beat and the world circulates around us. The images you see here distill the moving world into a fraction of a second. The blur of movement may become a painterly impression of light to shadow or hue to shade. Then again, some images focus on delicate detail that invites us into the frame as though we can feel the movement ourselves.
These photographs evoke an effortless interruption of the moving world just long enough to provide the viewer with a poetic meditation on the speed of life.

ABOUT THE CURATOR
Elizabeth Flinsch is an artist, curator, and the editor of SHOTS Magazine based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. SHOTS is an independent print journal of black and white photography founded in 1986. Over the past decade, Elizabeth has also led photography workshops, guided artists in designing and publishing photo books, and otherwise sought ways to re-vision her own relationship to photography. Elizabeth’s own artistic roots in traditional printmaking show up in her affinity for alternative photographic processes. She is deeply committed to her vision for the photography landscape as a more equitable realm for woman identified, queer, and BIPOC artists.
